If you head over to CreativeCards, you’re probably going to find yourself spending $32 for 54 tiny pieces of amazing art. To quote from the site:
The main aim of the project is to create something astonishing, collectable and unique. We have invited 54 top digital creative ninjas and asked them to pick up one card each and make a design of it in their own style and technique. We are proud that there are such gurus as Joshua Davis, Shotopop, Brosmind, Your-Majesty and others. The one and the only requirement to the authors was so that the theme of their artwork should fit to the card they’ve chosen best and as a result we’ve got a deck of individually illustrated playing cards.
Think the Five of Hearts by Lunartik is probably my favourite. There’s a whole load of evolutionary steps at the about page as well.
Missed a couple of days of posts due to life stuff. Can’t remember exactly what I ate on Friday, but let’s just say Friday evening through to Sunday lunch could come under the heading of ‘unhealthy’.
Anyhow, as I promised interesting stuff as well as my food and exercise diaries on here, there’s a really good post and photos on Soviet-era punk here.
Anyhow, food/exercise diary stuff after the break.
So I went up to London for Science Museum Lates last night, and thus didn’t go to the gym. The unfortunate part is that some furniture in the flat jumped out at me on Tuesday night, and I think I kind of/might have broken my toe by kicking it. Mainly because the toe’s swollen to twice its size, and turned the same colour as a West Ham shirt (nobody needs a picture). Going to talk to the instructor in the gym to find out what I can still do. That’s not going to be tonight though, because I’ve got to pick my car up from my mechanic. Good sign that I feel bad about missing the gym though, right?
Here’s a great video about musical milestones, food diary is after the break:
Went up to Science Museum Lates last night. I didn’t want to take my full camera or a bag with me, but I didn’t want to just use my phone camera either. Borrowed a Sony RX100 from work, as I’ve wanted to have a try of one after reading this review at The Verge.
It’s a pocket sized compact camera, but the sensor inside is near DSLR sized (1″ – same size as Nikon’s 1 series). Camera can shoot JPG, RAW or RAW + JPG. Got the RAWs to play with as well, but these are the JPGs as they came off the camera (only adjust is rotation). Mainly left the camera set on auto, as I wanted to see what I’d get with happy snapping, rather than getting into the huge amount of custom settings you can change. Seriously good, and one I’d seriously think about to keep with me on a day to day basis, while keeping the DSLR for gigs/planned stuff. Good quality stuff as standard, tonnes of flexibility in the settings, and charges off Micro-USB (same as a phone).
To quote The Verge: “If you’ve already got an interchangeable lens camera and simply want something more portable, however, the RX100 is impossible to beat right now.”
There’s a post on Cracked today called 6 True Stories That Will Restore Your Faith In Humanity. Good stuff.
No update yesterday (bit of stress stuff), so here’s yesterday and today:
Okay, so didn’t post an update yesterday (got back too late from gig), so here’s a quick two days worth after the break:
So, day two of eating better/getting exercise. Did the gym at work again today, and started feeling “ouch” earlier than yesterday. Guessing this is just down to starting off. Still, did more than I did yesterday, so feel happy with that. No gym for the next three days, as work’s closed, so I’ll need to find some other exercise.
In other news, worth checking out this article at The Onion which was published yesterday (23rd August). The headline’s “Nation Celebrates Full Week Without Deadly Mass Shooting”, which was the usual kind of Onion take on the number of killing sprees in the US. Today (24th August), someone’s been on a killing spree at the Empire State Building. The Onion’s reaction?
“UPDATE: Never Mind”
Food diary/exercise log after the break.
Okay, so today I joined the gym at work. I want to get into shape, and I figure part of the way to keep at things is to make that public, and to make progress/updates public. Hence, today is day 1 of Operation GFODT (Get Fit Or Die Trying).
So my Mum, Gran and Brother adopted two kittens. The internet can never have enough pictures of kittens. Harry’s the ginger one, Poppy’s the black one. Aw.
